Using PSB in different city

Hi, I'm renewing my temporary residence permit/student visa, and I'm wondering if I can do this at a PSB not located in the same city where I am registered as a resident. Ex: I live in Hangzhou and have registered with the local police station. I usually go to the Hangzhou PSB to renew it, but could I hop on the train and go to Shanghai and do it there? (It seems the processing time would be faster there.) Thanks!
