About:How to Buy Tickets

rail travel Beijing to Xian/ Xian to Chendu/Chendu to Hong Kong

Confused with pricing options. Beijing to Xian 23 Sept. Xian to Chengdu 26 Sept. Chengdu to Hangzhou 29 Sept. Hangzou to Hong Kong 2 October.

Can you please advise length of journeys and costs. Can I make these bookings in Shanghai when I get there in person at nearest railway station?

I am an Australian pensioner and would like to know if I would be eligible for concessions. Thank you.

1.You can make the bookings in person at any railway stations in China. But it is not suggested to do so, as the tickets may be sold out when you are there.
2.You are not eligible for concessions.
3.For your reference:
Beijing - Xian: a regular train takes about 12-19 hours and its hard sleeper ticket is about RMB 263.5; a bullet one takes about 5-6 hours and its second-class seat costs RMB515.5;
Xian - Chengdu: it takes 14-17 hours and a hard sleeper is around CNY200;
Chengdu - Hangzhou: a bullet rail takes 15 hours and its second class costs around RMB 590; a regular one takes around 40 hours and its hard sleeper costs RMB 488.5;
Hangzhou – Hong Kong: There is no direct rail.
