Transiting 14 hours in Shanghai airport for a Chile people

Hello.
I am a Chilean citizen living in Canada.
I will be flying from Toronto to Tokyo via Shanhai, my layover is 14 hours before i head to Tokyo.
I have two questions:
1)can I stay at the airport for those 14 hours before my flight departs to tokyo??, do I need a visa? pay any fees?
2)can I leave the airport to visit the city of shanhai for those 14 hours before my flight departs?? do i need a permit??, pay any fees??

You can stay in the airport and nothing is needed.
You can leave the airport if you want. You can use your valid passport and your ticket to Tokyo to apply for a stay permit to leave the airport. It is free to get a stay permit at the immigration in the airport.
