China Visa type if we travel by cruise and stop in some cities

Hello,
My wife and I are going to visit Shanghai (28 hours) and Hong Kong (30 hours) on a cruise ship next March 2015. The ship will overnight in both cities for the times indicated.
What type do we need?
Do I need to make an appointment to drop off my application at your office in Toronto?
What documentation is required?
Do I have to leave my passport?
How long does it take to get the it?
How much is it?

Thank you for your assistance.

Generally speaking, a double entry Tourist L type is suggested to apply. It is still suggested to confirm it with your cruise company again.
You need to apply through the local nearby CVASC. For requiremets of applying, you need to provide your valid passport, an application form with recent taken photo, your cruise tickets to China and leaving from China.
The passport is needed for application, so you need to leave it at the CVASC. It usually takes around 4 working days for processing. The fare for a double entry type is 117CAD.
