Swiss-resident with Taiwan passport; how to enter China?

Dear Sir or Madam

I am a Swiss citizen. My wife is resident in Switzerland but holds a Taiwan passport. Does she need to apply for a travel permit before entering China (e.g. 台胞证) or is it possible to enter China with a Taiwan passport only? If any other document is needed, what is the most convenient procedure?

Thank you in advance for your answer
Florian

Besides the passport, she needs to have a "Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China" or "Permit for Taiwan Residents to and from Mainland China" with register or Taiwan ID.

She needs to go to the local Chinese embassy to apply for a register to enter China. When going there, she needs to take a recent taken photo (33*48mm), her passport and the residence permit in Switzerland. After arriving at the embassy, the officer will guide you how to apply for a register.
