LIving/Working in Taiyuan?

Hi, I saw an ad on Dave's ESL Café for a position to teach English in the city- is this a nice place to live? Should I choose Beijing instead?

Personally speaking, the climate in TY is better, and the life expense is lower than Beijing, also less stress in work.

I used to live in TY for 5 months. It was okay for that time, but I would prefer Beijing oder Shanghai. TY´s big advantage is that living is much less expensive. Yet is has all amenities you need for living. But watch out: There are literally NO other people from the western world, so everyone will look at you like crazy, they will walk a few stepps next to you just to make a video, take pictures etc. I worked there at a university as a lecturer but was invited to tv-shows, did photoshootings for advertising etc. Just because it is special for them to actually see people that are not from China.
