changing employers and the Z visa

I have Chinese Z, just issued july 2014. It is dated must enter China by October 30, 2014. My original employer school did not work out as their enrollment was too low and they did not need me. I have found another teaching job in Shanghai. Can I come in to China on my original one and have it switched over by the new school so I do not have to wait and start all over again?please respond...smlevass@aol.com many thanks!

You should be able to. I did before. But this was many years ago. They may still make you fly back. So contact the PSB there where you will go before you travel.
Or have the school pay your way if they cannot secure you a Residence permit after you arrive.

It is possible to do that in China. After you enter China, you need to ask your original employer to provide you a release letter and ask them to cancel your former work permit and then you can ask your new company to help you to get a new work permit and to change your Z type to a residence permit.
