Temporary Residence Permit reentry

I have a temporary residence permit until Oct 2014, but I left the job and country several months ago. Can I reenter on the same temporary residence permit or is it not valid anymore?

If your residence permit is not cancelled by your form company, you can still use it to re-enter China.
I heard some companies will cancel the employee's residence permit online, but I did not know how to do it.

Personally speaking, if it is is possible, you are suggested to apply for a new visa to enter China.
