As I know, you don’t need to go through the immigration.

Thanks for the answer. The flight is a "through" flight, i.e. no flight number change. United assures me that it is the same aircraft. Will I be able to get off the airplane, mill around in the gate area and reboard without going through security? Lay over time is 2+30.

It depends on you. You can choose to stay on the plane or get off. The air crew will ask you about this issue.
