A complex situation..

Hi.

I have an X2 visa, but no residence permit yet, I have however been in China for 31 days now.
I came a bit earlier to China and this has caused me a lot of trouble...
Today, when I tried to apply for the residence permit, the exit-entry center did not accept my application since I need to be registered at the Chinese school in which I'm going to study in first AND I have to have an accomodation at campus.

The problem is that the semester starts in mid September (more than a month!) and I can't register until then, nor can I get an accomodation at campus, which would be 2 months after my entry into China. Then also, the fee is 500 yuan per day from my 30th day after my entry into China resulting in 15000 yuan in fees....

Am I illegaly in China now, because I don't have a residence permit with my X2?

Also, if I would leave the country now without a residence permit, what would happen?

I also read from this website "X2 holders shall stay in China within the duration period as indicated on the visa, and it is not necessary for them to apply for the temporary residence permit." Is this up to date? Because I thought I had to have a residence permit...

I don't really know what to do here...

The options I'm considering now is to find some kind of job instead (and skip the studies here) that could perhaps provide a working visa. Could this work?

For X2, you do not need to apply for a residence permit. So the information on this website is the latest. If you just leave China before it expires, you will not face fine. So what is your X2's valid?

It is impossible to apply for a working type within China. You can try to find a job in China and then use the documents the company provides you to apply for a working type in your country or a nearby Asian country.

Are you sure?
I mean everywhere else I read I see that persons holding an X type has to apply for a residence permit. I think before 2013, it was only the X1 who needed to apply for it, now I can't see any evidene that the X2 doesn't need it.

I won't be in China for more than 180 days. But I might have to book a ticket to Hong Kong tomorrow if persons holding an X2 type need the residence permit. So is kind of important!

Where do you get that information?

According to the laws, it is no need to apply for a residence permit with X2.

If you want to book a ticket to HK, you can just use your passport and X2 to buy, but the resident permit is not needed. Generally speaking, the X2 is a single entry, so what about yours? If yours is also a single entry, you cannot leave China mainland to HK. Once you leave, you cannot enter the mainland again.
