Q1 visa & Temporary Residence Permit

Hi, I have a wife in China and intended to apply for Q1.

"Q1 is generally issued with a single entry and 30 days, and the holders must apply for Temporary Residence Permit within 30 days after entry. The residence permit can be granted for a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 5 years."

From the above, in order to stay in China with Q1, I need to apply for Temporary Residence Permit right? What if I have certain illnesses which is banned by the China Gov? Is there any hope to apply for the particular one again?

If no, which would you suggest that do not required to go through formal health checking? Thanks a lot.

Lim, you should apply for the temporary resident permit in 30 days when you arrive. Of course, you will be asked to do physical examination at the appointed hospital. I am afraid that you won't get the resident permit if you really suffer from the illness you talked about. By the way, physical examination is a must if you want to change your Q1 to temporary resident permit.

Hi Tim, thanks a lot for your reply! What do you think if I apply for Q2? Is it possible? I don't mind to get a multiple entry for longer stay with Q2.

Thanks again...

It is possible, since the physical examination is not needed. You can try to apply Q2.
