Contemplation about relationship between a pig and a rat

I am dating a man born the year of the water pig 1983, Pisces 2/26. I am a female wood rat born 1984, 9/14. I'm an impatient person, I feel he brings up his past quite often. He's been divorced a year prior to meeting me. His wife was a metal sheep born 1991. I feel they had a very strong bond, if it were not for her excessive cheating and betrayal of trust. She left the man quite damaged, only I feel i'm dealing with the after math. If I bring up future plans such as an upcoming holiday I am shot down immediately. I am told not to plan ahead of time, that the future is always questionable. He mentions quite often that he will never be married again or be in a titled relationship. As of now I'm giving him his space but I feel i'm falling out of love due to his constant bickering. My question is whether or not he may recover from his divorce? At this point I feel I should be dating other people.
