Traveling standby

Hi!
I am planning to travel standby in shanghai, meaning I do not have a booked seat. Only if there are seats available on the flight, will I be able to board. I am travelled as a partner pass of the airline.
Do you know what rules apply I do not make it on the flight and need to stay in airport to wait for the next flight?

Do you plan to make a transfer in Shanghai or travel t Shanghai?
If you just make a transfer in Shanghai, you can apply for a transit type for staying in Shanghai, otherwise, you need to apply for a tourist type. Taking either of the two types, you can get out of the airport.
