About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for the 72 hour VISA in China? How do I apply?

Hi everyone,
On July 31, 2014, I am flying from Haneda Airport in Japan - Shanghai Hongqio International Airport (15 hour layover) - Kunming Changshui International Airport (3 hour layover) - Siem Reap Airport

Sorry, you are not qualified for 72 hours free transit because you stop in two cities. But I think you may avail 24 hours free transit. When you arrive in Shanghai, you need to apply for a stay permit and then you can go to Kunming without a problem.

Hey Gary,

Thanks for your prompt response. So even if I don't leave the airport during my 15 hour layover, I still need to get stay permit?

Do you know how much a stay permit costs?
