Visa extension X2 and student residence permit

Hi,

My partner and I are both studying Chinese in Hainan. He holds an X2 student and I have a student residence permit, both expire 31st of July. Since we are both in the process of finding a job now, we need some more time in China. I read that its possible to extend 2 times 1 month (change to L visa), is this also possible in our case? If yes, how long would that take? Thanks!

Hi, it is possible for both of you to get tourist L for 30 days from local PSB. But the extension of stay is only allowed once time. If you want to work, then you have to leave and apply for a work Z outside of China or to be best in your home country. The extension takes about one week. You can also visit the local PSB directly for more details.

Hi Sammy,

Thanks a lot for your quick response! Do you know if the reason for extension matters? I've been told that the PBS might not accept all excuses. For instance, if you say you would like to stay longer for travel, they might reject you, while studying could be a valid one. I will definitely go to the PBS to clarify, but I don't want to risk my only chance to extend ;) Thanks again!
