About:How to Buy Tickets

Why does China make it so difficult for travellers to buy train tickets.

Nothing has changed it is still as difficult to get a ticket as it was in 1987. I can book everything else on line like hotels and, plane tickets and even get an boarding pass electronically. These endless trips to railway stations to pick up tickets are frustrating and time wasting...

I agree with you.
it is really not that easy to buy rail ticket in China, especially for foreigners like us. I guess the main reason is that the country has too many people and tickets are always in large demand.
but we have to admit that things are improving. There is official ticketing website, though only available for Chinese people. There are also many English booking agents (like this website) who provide ticket booking service.
and i believe it will be better in the future.
