Manoj, I suggest you apply in Sri Lanka. Usually, those wo apply in the third countries are required to provide their resident permits for employment or study or any other legal documents that entitle them to stay. I am afraid that you can't provide resident permit for employment or study in India.

There are two kinds, X1 and X2. If you apply for the X2, you should provide your passport, filled application form, a recent passport photo and an admission letter (original and copy versions). If you apply for the X1, you should provide JW201/202 form extra apart from other documents for X2. When you prepare all the required documents, you should submit your application to Chinese embassy in your country.
