Transit or tourist type?
Thanks for this extremely useful website. I have been accepted to study in a Chinese university and begin in September 1st, so I should apply for a student visa.
I have also obtained a scholarship from my local government to pay for my studies, and they have also bought an air ticket for me to Shanghai. The air ticket, however, is for arriving on August 2nd. My university told me I should arrive in September or end of August, otherwise my X type will expire before I have a chance to register (the university is closed throughout August).
So I thought of doing this: use the air ticket, arrive to Shanghai airport on August 2nd, but not exit the airport, and instead connect to a flight Shanghai-Urumqi-Iran, since I am planning to marry in that last country, and return Iran-Urumqi-Shanghai by the end of August or beginning of September. That way, my student X wouldn't start running out, and I only start using it upon returning from Iran.
I realize I would need not only to apply to a X type, but also to either a transit or a L type, in order for me to get to Shanghai and pass through Urumqi en route to Iran. I was wondering if all of this is possible, and if applying to two different ones at the same time is possible, and which type would be most appropriate to use first: a transit one or a tourist one. Many thanks!
