Courier service can't pick up passport for 10 days ok?

I found a cheap visa processing service for Chicago's China consulate office that would able to drop off my application materials July 3, will be closed from July 4 for holiday until return July 14 . Will the consulate hold onto my passport for that long, or do they need pick up within a certain time?
