friends or more?

I was born on 11/9/1978 went to 1 lunch with guy born on 10/4/1983. I am 5 years older than the guy. I was born in Tokyo Japan he was born in Syracuse NY. So far we have become good friends but I might want more; is this going to be another waste of my time? I'm not getting a NJ you younger...
