About:Tibet Travel Permit

Visa cancellation?

Hello, I am currently traveling in India, and want to travel western tibet to xinjiang via Nepal, but I heard that the tibet permit when applied from Kathmandu, cancels the regular Chinese visa, making me able to travel tibet and the rest of china for only as long as the permit permits. Is it true?
Is it the same way when applying for the permit from within china (chengdu, etc.)?

Thanks in advance,
Nadav

Yes, you need to cancel your Chinese visa first and reapply in Kathmandu. By the way, you should apply for the Tibet Travel Permit too. And individual forengers are not allowed to travel in Tibet. They need to join a group tour arranged by qualified travel agencies.

Thank you! And what about obtaining the permit from chengdu? Does it also cancel the Chinese visa?
