About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Old name on passport doesn't match new passport name....

My old passport doesn't match the name on my new passport and everything I do now goes by the name on my new passport. The only difference is the middle name(which is removed in the new passport) and it has well been over a year since the new passport has been issued. What are the necessary steps to get a travel visa now since the two names MUST match and I do not have any court document of the name change.

May I know what is your purpose of visit this time? Do you mean you have been issued Chinese visas before to your old passport? to my understanding, you can apply with your new passport as the first time applicant and DO NOT mention previous visits, then it is easy as well. Otherwise, you have to get a proof of name change.
