do i need to apply VISA just for a day tour?

Hi, i'm planning to go Shenzhen and Zhu Hai for one day from Hong Kong. But i'm carrying Malaysian passport.

Yes, you need to apply for a L type in advance. Although you can apply for the five-day VOA when you arrive. However, it just allows you to stay in Shenzhen or Zhuhai separately.

Thanks for your reply. May i know what u meant by L Type? How can I apply for it when i'm in Hong Kong? How long does it need to approve?

Full Chinese tourist L visa. You can try to apply for it in HK if you are now in HK already. The regular processing takes 4 working days.
