excursion in chengdu

Question

Hello,My brother and I (UK passport holders) are flying into Hong Kong airport from Brussells and then taking a flight 2 hours later on a separate airline to Chengdu. We have booked our hotel in Chengdu for 2 nights, and a tourist excursion (Panda's!). We have booked our return flight to Hong Kong too.We are staying in Chengdu less than 48 hours. Do we qualify for the 72 hours visa free transit? Thanks!

No, the 72 hour free transit only applies to direct transit via Chengdu. You need to apply for a tourist L for this visit.
