About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we need a Chinese tourist visa for a one-day excursion from our cruise ship to Beijing?

Our itinerary on Coral Princess:
10-11-18 Hiroshima, Japan
10-14-18 Beijing (Tianjin) -- Visa Needed?
10-16-18 Incheon, Korea
10-18-18 Shanghai (ship to airport, flight to USA) -- Visa Needed?
I believe we're probably OK for Shanghai transit, but not sure about one-day roundtrip from ship to Beijing. Any recent experiences appreciated. (Can't get a straight answer from ANYONE! What's the deal?)

Do you mean your travel route would be Japan-Beijing (Tianjin) for less than 144 hours-Incheon, Korea-Shanghai-USA, right? If yes, you qualify for 144h free transit in mainland China in both ways. No visa will be needed.
