About:Shenzhen Train

Travel from HK to Shenzhen and then on to Shantou.

Arriving at HKIA on 22.12.2014 at ~10pm.
How do I get to the correct station.
Do I need to book ticket in advance for journey fr SZ to Shantou.
Frequency of trains departing and the fare.
Best time of the day to travel fr HK to SZ as to avoid peak period since will be carrying luggage.

Hi, Tan. Currently, from SZ North Railway Station, there are bullet trains for Chaoshan Railway Station and then you can take a shuttle bus for Shantou city. I am not clear whether you plan to use the bullet trains.

If you want to use the bullet trains, you can find the cross-borders buses from HKIA to North Railway Station directly. The buses are at 07:10, 07:40, 08:40, 09:40, 11:40, 13:40, 14:40 and 15:40. I think you can catch the bus at 11:40.

For the train tickets from SZ North to Chaoshan, you are suggested to book in advance to ensure a suitable ticket. The train ticket fare is around 89.5RMB for the second class seat and 107.5RMB for the first class seat.

The time you arrive in SZ is not the peak period, because the peak time is usually in the morning or late afternoon. So you do not need to worry about it.
