Will I be able to obtain a student visa from the Chinese Embassy in Paris?

Hi all :) So I'm from the US and planning on studying abroad this summer in Shanghai, but I will be in France for about 9-10 days before flying to China. I won't be able to apply for it in the US because I wouldn't have enough time. How long will it take? Can it be expedited? What can I do???
