Care and maintenance of silk blanket

I purchased a king-sized silk blanket last October in Beijing.

Even with a sheet between the blanket and our bodies, both my wife and I suffered from some itchiness. Two questions:

1. Any suggestions to prevent this itchiness?

2. We are considering dry-cleaning the blanket in hopes that would be a solution. Our dry-cleaner was afraid that this method might cause "clumping" in the silk material. Any thoughts on this?
