UK student in China, wanting to travel to Hong Kong before returning to Bejing for flight back to UK

Hi. My friends and I are planning to go travelling after our studies in Beijing and would like to visit Hong Kong, but we only have single-entry visas. Is it possible to go to Hong Kong and re-enter China in order to get our flight back from Beijing to the UK? Do we need to apply for a new visa or are we allowed the re-entry if we then leave China within 72 hours? Thanks!

I'm afraid the re-entry to China is not allowed, because you will hold separate tickets for the trip HK- Beijing -UK. Then you may have to apply for a new visa.

Hi Jess, it is ok, because as I know separate tickets from HK to Beijing and Beijing to UK are allowed if you stay in Beijing for no more than 72 hrs. The free transit permit can be issued on arrival at Beijing airport directly.
