Inbound and Outbound Tickets on Separate Itineraries

I am booking a ticket from Seoul to Beijing and then a separate ticket from Beijing to LA (within 72 hours). Because I'm getting the Beijing-LA leg with frequent flyer miles, these two tickets are on separate itineraries. In other words, the airline that's taking me from Seoul to Beijing won't have any way of knowing that I have an onward ticket.

Will this cause any problems?
