About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Canadian living in France

Hello. I am a Canadian citizen but resident of France for the past 8 years. I have been promised a job for August but it appears that they cannot decide if I need to return to Canada to get a Z Visa. I know this would be be the case, normally, but I am a resident of France and no longer have any ties in Canada. So...do I need to head back to Canada, or not? Thanks!
