240-hour visa-free transit Canadian passport

I am a Canadian citizen planning to visit China for a total of 7 days.

My itinerary is as follows: Canada - Philippines - Japan - China - Philippines - Canada.

I will be flying from Tokyo to Shanghai (stay for 4 days), take the train to Suzhou (stay for 2 days), and then take the train back to Shanghai (stay for 1 day), before departing for the Philippines.

Would I be eligible for the 240-hour visa-free transit?

Yes, your itinerary: Tokyo - Shanghai - Suzhou - Shanghai - Philippines, if presented correctly and in its entirety is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. You should just have in mind to book your Shanghai to Philippines ticket even before you perform your check-in in Tokyo because you will be asked to present one in both Tokyo and in Shanghai upon your arrival there.
