About:Marriage Registration in China

I am a American Citizen and plan to go this year to Shenzhen to marry

I will be traveling to Shenzhen, China sometime this year to marry my Fiancée. IS there anything I can do before I depart to make the marriage process easier once I arrive. I am divorced and already have my copy. Any information to help me would be greatly appreciated. Alan from Michigan. Thank you all

You need to get your divorce certificate authenticated by Chinese consulate in Chicago.

Austin is wrong. I'm in Shenzhen, I got married in Shenzhen and I am also divorced from the U.S and an American.

1. Come to China, take a train for 45 minutes to Guangzhou U.S Embassy, get your legal single sheet to marry in China. Take your divorce there, make sure the divorce is certified and has a certified stamp from the state you got divorced in. If not, the U.S Embassy won't accept it.

2. Get the divorce and legal single sheet translated into Chinese, (This is must).

3. You future wife must make an appointment to get married, they will send you a text stating date and time.

4. If your future wife isn't a Shenzhen resident Hukou ID holder, you'll need to travel to her real hometown to get married, can't do it in Shenzhen, but you can do it in Hong Kong, make sure she has a Hong Kong Passport.

5. Don't give any large sums of money to the family as a wedding gift, this doesn't apply to you because you don't have a family in China. Your future wife should respect this.

BTW, my divorce was from Guam and they never required my divorce to be authenticated by Chinese consulate.. China only wants you legal single sheet that states you can marry.
