About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Switching Visa's

Hello I have a tourist L for China already. But will be hoping to switch this to a work Z whilst in China, or Hong Kong as will have a teaching post secured for a 1st Sept start. Is it possible to get a work Z in such circumstances from Hong Kong??
