I have two laptops, one from the Client office and one for my own office - can i carry both to china and while returning i plan to buy a new laptop for my husband - can i carry back 3 laptops. will i have to pay customs

If both two laptops are for personal use, then you can bring them into China. The customs might ask you some questions and check your laptops. As long as they are not brand new, you won't have trouble. And you can buy a new one for your husband. Please keep the invoice safe in case the customs imposes tax on your brand new one.
