Travel from Switzerland through Germany to Beijing and back

Would the following travel plan work (without a visa):
Travel from Switzerland to Germany with a separarte flight.
Check-in again in Germany to fly to Beijing. So my origin of flight should be Germany, correct?
Stay in Beijing for less than 72 hours.
Travel back to Switzerland with a direct flight (or maybe a flight through Germany with direct connection to Switzerland).
??

I am afraid not. Because the place of departure and destination should be in a different region actually. Your itinerary above may still be considered as a return trip. So you are advised to apply for a Chinese visa in advance.
