Background check for Z visa

Greetings, I have been offered a job with a large, reputable American firm in China. I have one item on my US federal criminal history, a misdemeanor drug charge from almost 20 years ago. (I have no record afterward.)

I have begun the process of clearing my record. But will the American company have to access that record to obtain clearance for me? Thank you for your help.

Hi, it is hard to say. Criminal record is required for the company to apply for work premit for you from Chinese authority.
