About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Will I make my connection at Pudong?

I have concerns with my flight connection at Pudong. I fly from Tokyo(NRT) to Beijing(PEK) on 10-April-2014. My connection is in Shanghai(PVG). My flight is China Eastern Airlines 272. I land at PVG at 13:00 and depart to PEK at 14:10. I only have 1 hour 10 minutes to make the connection. I hold an American passport. Do I collect my luggage and go through customs at PVG. I don't think I'll make my connection. I appreciate any information/advice I can get. Thank you.

Yes, the transit duration is too short and it is hardly possible to catch your plane to PEK, so you are advised to change to another flight!

Well, if you have the luggage check-through service from your airline, u don't need to reclaim your luggage at PVG. Instead, just pick it up at PEK. If not, you need to recheck it in! For this matter, you'd better confirm with your airline in advance! Anyway, to go through the immigration shall be necessary for the transfer!

Yes, you need to go through passport control and collect your luggage to clear custom. China requires you to clear custom at point of entry. Speak to the ground crew straightaway n they will help you rush through.
