Do I require the same as with a Canadian passport or do I need something more?

I am submitting a Chinese Visa application from Canada with an Egyptian passport.

You should submit your passport and required documents for the type you apply for. By the way, you should provide the legal resident permit for employment or study or legal visa in Canda too.
