mailand, single entry Chinese visa

Hello, I'm now in Chinese mainland (Shenyang) and going to stay here for 3 months. I have a single entry student (X2). Can I visit Hainan Island with this type and then return back to mainland China? Or do I have to apply for another type? Thank you.
