About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Flight gets delay and the stay over exceeds by 24 hr.

I am from India. My flight is from Delhi to Shanghai-Pu Dong Apt and then Shanghai-Pu Dong Apt to Komatsu Japan. The connecting flight is 22 hr 30 minutes after my arrival in Shanghai. In case my flight get some delay and the layover at Shanghai exceed by 24 hr. Do i need a transit visa in that case ? If yes, what is the procedure that i need to follow and what are the documents required ?

Where are you now? if you stopover exceeds 24 hours, you have to apply for a Chinese tranist G in advance. But if you are already in Shanghai airport, you should apply directly at the airport explaining the delay of leaving flight.

You can apply for a visa in Shanghai airport in case of flight delay.

As I know, there are visa-issuing office in the airport for transit passengers. You can just provide your passport, and flight ticket for application.
