I plan to visit Dunhuang this December. What can I expect first 2 weeks of Dec. weather to be like?

I know it's going to be cold and travel agents are telling me not to visit. I want to have a good understanding of how cold it's going to be. I am used to below-zero F temperature so cold won't be a problem but I want to make sure.
