Does the letter from an individual in China have to be hand written?

Can it be a email? Or a word document with scanned signature? Or can it be a scanned document?

Does it have to be hand-written and mailed in from China? Thanks.

Hi, the invitation letter in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout are acceptable for application.
