About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Is there a minimum transit time to get the 72 hour visa?

Hi there,

Have a three hour layover in Shanghai and am travelling on a New Zealand passport. I just want to clear customs so I can get my passport stamped. Also, at Shanghai airport am I able to arrange the visa myself when I land by filling out the arrivals card or do I need to get the airline to arrange it?

Ok great thanks. I assume that there's no minimum time required to get a transit permit so long as one can catch the connecting flight out...?

Yes, you are right. You can apply for it if you need to clear customs to go out of the airport transit area.
