About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I use this 72 hour free transit in 2 separate tickets?

If I fly from Vancouver via Guangzhou to Haikou and back to Vancouver in one ticket, of course I need an entry visa. Then I buy another ticket from Haikou to Singapore and then via Guangzhou back to Vancouver, am I eligible for this 72 hour free transit in Guangzhou? Thank you.
