Very little time with physical passport during z-visa application

Hi,

My residence permit expires on March 15. I had to renew my passport and they said it will take up to 20 business days. If I assume they will get it back to me around March 5, what can I do now to make the z application faster/smoother? Is there any paperwork I can prepare before? I am also switching jobs for z.
