American Visiting Seoul wants to visit China before returning back to USA

Dear sir,
My wife and I are from USA and we are visiting with her family on a 90 day maximum stay in Seoul. We would like to take a side trip to PRC while we are here, we can provide you with onward travel tickets showing that our final destination will be USA.

Is this sufficient to meet your requirements to visit China?Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you plan to visit PRC, you should apply for the L type. However, I don't think you can do that in South Korea because you don't have the Aliens' Registration Card with the validity of at least six months. But your wife can apply if she still holds South Korean passport.
