lijiang & shangri-la

Question

Hi, I intend to fly into & leave from LJ. Like to travel from LJ to Shangri-la. 1. Whats the best way to travel both way? 2. Should we (2 pax) hire a private taxi/ car & can stop at places of attraction along the way? Price? 3. Is there regular tour bus covering this route (both way)? Price? 4. Where should we stop at Shangrila specifically, where there are good 3 or 4 starts hotels?5. Looking at 22-27 Mar period - hows the weather like in both places? 6. How would you recommend us to split up these 5 days between LJ/ Shangrila? What are the Must go places? Thanks!Sally

From LJ to Shangri-la, the best method is the bus. Of course, you can hire a car to reach Shangri-la and stop at attractions along the way. The fare is around 500 to 600RMB. The buses are operated in regular and the interval is around 30 to 60 minutes. The fare is around 69RMB per person. For hotels, the star-hotels can be found in the Shangri-la county and I think the Gushen Yangsheng Hotel is pretty nice. During that time, the average temperature is still around 0 to 10C in Shangri-la and for LJ, it is around 2 to 15C.Besides, the two places, I think the Tiger Leaping Gorge is the best place to go from LJ when you go to Shangri-la. Then you can take a visit to White Water Terraces and then Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
