About:China Train Stations

Minimum check-in time at Chengdu East Railway Station

So is an hour before departure adequate if you've already have pre-purchased tickets in hand to catch one out of the Chengdu East Railway station to Chongqing? I'd like to spend as much time as possible seeing the Pandas and still catch it out that afternoon. If I need more than an hour, then I'll adjust my schedule to leave earlier in the morning to see the pandas.

If you have the tickets in hand and can arrive at the station one hour before the train departure time, then that's no problem. But we still suggest you visit the Pandas at your earliest time to leave enough time for the train to avoid any expected issues on the way.
Morning is a good time to visit pandas, when they are all active after good rest and they are fed and have fun together. So, you can go there ealier to not miss any of those interesting scenes.
