About:China Visa

Can I get a tourist visa (L) when I'm already in China on a student type (X2)?

I'm currently in Shanghai on a X2 visa doing a 3 month internship as I was unable to get a 4 month one so I could stay for 4 months as an intern. Now, I would love to stay for 1 or 2 weeks AFTER my X2 expires and travel as a tourist. Is that possible?

Hi, you can try to extend/convert your X2 at local PSB. If you will travel with a travel agency, then photocopies of its business license and an official letter in Chinese with official seal from the travel agency addressed to the Division of Exit-Entry Administration of PSB are required. If you travel individually, a proof of hotel reservation, itinerary, and airline tickets are necessary.
